Parquet wood flooring is one of the most popular floors available, being a timeless design it suits old and new properties alike and has been made more
fashionable by designers over the last few years especially the Herringbone style. At Coldbath Flooring we have a large selection on display in our showroom and can give advice on suitability, style, durability and fitting.
We have manufacturers Ted Todd, Panaget, Woodpecker, V4 wood flooring
and many more on display as well as an extensive range of bespoke options.

Herringbone Style

This traditional style of wood floor with its timeless look is probably one of the most sort after styles of floor on the market. There are many choices available and size is one of the most important factors. Herringbone flooring has been popular for hundreds of years and was seen to be hard wearing, Maple was one of the hardest options but Oak and pitch pine were also used.
These days Maple isn’t as readily available as the ever popular Oak, still being a hardwood it is an ideal option and can be easily coloured and finished to suit today’s fashion whether contemporary or original looking installations are required.

The best herringbone option

One thing to consider is how well the blocks or longer batons are machined at the mill as this is very important when it comes to fitting and the final quality of finish you are wanting to achieve. On display in our Harrogate wood flooring showroom we believe we have one of the most extensive and exciting ranges of herringbone floor styles available which you can be reassured are of excellent quality, we have all shades of colours and finishes to suit your home.

Bespoke Herringbone

Our ever popular Bespoke range allows us to make new floors look old and original and are an ideal alternative to reclaimed herringbone floors. These can be coloured to match plank floors of multiple widths which can be mixed with up to 3 sizes wide, distressed or contemporary, brushed or smooth. As wood floor specialists, we can supply basically anything for your own fitters to install or cover and guarantee the whole installation procedure for your parquet floor.

Chevron Pattern Parquet

The Chevron floor pattern originated in the 17th century, the French kings and nobility were extravagant with design and patterned floors, Chevron styled floors have been used in many beautiful homes across France since and are still very popular weather it be a swish Paris Apartment or a period country house.

The difference between the chevron and herringbone pattern is that the chevron planks are cut at a 45 degree angle on the ends and fitted point to point unlike herringbone floors which sit end to side.

Versailles Parquet floor

Also known as ‘Versailles Panel’ or Continuous Versailles, these floors have taken their name in the reign of Louis XIV in the 17th century, they were created to replace marble floors in the castle “Chateau de Versailles“

The floors are made up of individual pieces of timber, usually Oak and although the panels were originally assembled as separate pieces on the floor are now normally made as wooden panels at the factory before being fitted to the floor, the Continuous Versailles is very time consuming and still fitted in the most opulent homes. Most of these floors are available to be installed over Under floor heating.
